School Features

We emphasize a student-centered, learning-focused approach to education. Our curriculum offers six types of learning experiences: faith recognition, foundational knowledge, investigative studies, life education, community service, and physical and artistic activities. This approach ensures a balanced development in students' spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical aspects, ultimately cultivating a commitment to the ideal of lifelong learning.

(1) Language Policy

Our educational approach places a strong emphasis on enhancing students' language abilities, particularly in English. We incorporate English instruction in a variety of ways. For instance, some junior secondary courses in computer studies and home economics are delivered in English. We also integrate relevant English vocabulary into our Integrated Humanities program. In a bid to cater to the diverse learning capabilities of our students, we use English to teach Mathematics and Integrated Science in certain classes. However, our commitment to English language development extends beyond the confines of regular classroom instruction. Each month, we initiate morning reading sessions and peer reading programs during lunch, both conducted in English. Additionally, we host a variety of English-centric activities, including dramas, competitions, games, and assemblies. A particular highlight of our program is the promotion of English musicals, which create a vibrant and immersive English learning environment. To maximize the summer vacation period, we arrange English language arts courses and English camps, further nurturing our students' English proficiency. A unique feature of our language instruction is the use of Putonghua (Mandarin) in teaching junior secondary Chinese Language, underscoring our commitment to fostering multilingual competency in our students.

(2) Learning and Teaching Strategies

Our educational philosophy is centered on the effectiveness of learning and teaching. We strive relentlessly to foster a positive learning atmosphere and nurture students' abilities for self-guided learning. Our well-equipped school facilities allow teachers to extensively incorporate information technology into their instruction, tailoring the teaching process to cater to individual student needs and creating an engaging learning environment. The curriculum we implement is student-centric, and we supplement it with a plethora of non-formal curriculum activities. For junior secondary students, we blend humanities subjects, incorporate project-based learning, module courses, and execute off-campus learning plans. Through this approach, we strive to achieve our goals: "holistic, diversified learning" and "whole-person development." For our senior secondary students, we provide flexibility in subject selection, enabling them to select subjects that align with their interests and abilities. Options include Chinese History, History, Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Information and Communication Technology, Physical Education, and Visual Arts.

Some of our senior secondary students (S5 and S6) study Hotel Operations, offered by the Vocational Training Council (VTC), and Applied Psychology courses provided by the Lingnan University School of Continuing Education. The senior secondary arts education curriculum features courses in video recording and editing, musical, stage lighting effects, street dance, graffiti, pottery, and electronic keyboard.
Assessment at our school is objective and varied, conducted at different stages of students' learning journeys. This includes assignments, in-class learning situations, peer evaluations, various types of tests in each subject, joint tests, and examinations. We employ a combination of continuous and summative assessments to help students gain a clear understanding of their learning progress, with summative assessments conducted once per term, totaling twice a year.

(3) Moral Education and Career Planning

We are firm advocates for proactive life planning, which aids students in setting objectives and preparing for their future educational pursuits and/or career paths. This is achieved through our junior secondary life education, guidance activities, and a range of career counseling experiences provided during senior secondary education. We also implement the 「培育基道人」program, designed specifically to nurture students' qualities of respect, self-love, and diligence. Each of these qualities is associated with specific behavioral indicators, which are evaluated by parents, teachers, and classmates. Students who fulfill these standards are duly recognized with commendations and rewards. Our aim is to foster a positive attitude among students, encouraging them to establish their own goals and directions, and promoting proactive learning. To this end, we allocate daily morning reading time, establish reading objectives tailored to the needs of each class, introduce recommended books on a regular basis, and organize book fairs and talks. This comprehensive approach ensures that our students are well-prepared for future challenges and opportunities.

(4) Student Support

Our educational approach emphasizes boosting students' confidence in learning. To this end, we establish the 五「升」級同學會, providing a serene environment conducive to self-study. This initiative aids in cultivating good learning habits through peer support and assistance from tutors. Our school is equipped with educational psychologists, social workers, and guidance teachers who are actively engaged in providing a diverse range of services to support students' growth. Additionally, we have implemented a lunch-at-school system and organize an assortment of lunchtime activities. A variety of extracurricular activities are also on offer, aimed at uncovering and developing students' interests and potential. Each year, we arrange overseas study tours to various countries such as New Zealand, Taiwan, and South Korea. These tours provide students with opportunities to broaden their horizons, learn, and immerse themselves in the culture and features of different countries through interactions with locals. This comprehensive approach aids in instilling a global perspective and cultural appreciation among our students.
